Steelers’ Larry Ogunjobi does not practice because of shoulder injury
Seven consecutive practices is as long as the streak would last for Larry Ogunjobi.
A veteran defensive tackle, Ogunjobi since Oct. 4 had fully taken part in each of the seven Pittsburgh Steelers practices that had been eligible for noting on the league-mandated status report. He was not listed as dealing with any injury over that time.
That was significant for Ogunjobi, who joined the Steelers last year months after foot surgery and after a contract he had agreed to with the Chicago Bears was voided after he failed a physical. But beginning Week 5 of last season, Ogunjobi had been listed on the injury report for 15 consecutive game weeks dating to Oct. 5, 2022, through Sept. 29 of this season in advance of the Steelers’ game at the Houston Texans.
But despite a run of two weeks off the injury report, Ogunjobi on Thursday was relegated to watching practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. Ogunjobi has a shoulder injury.
There is no indication Ogunjobi is in danger of missing Sunday’s home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Ogunjobi has appeared in each of the past 16 Steelers’ games dating to last season. He has played the most snaps of any defensive lineman on the team this season.
Also Thursday, inside linebacker Cole Holcomb (ankle), backup running back Anthony McFarland (knee) and reserve interior offensive lineman Nate Herbig (illness) practiced fully despite being listed on the injury report. McFarland remains on injured reserve.
Receiver Diontae Johnson (hamstring) did not practice, and defensive lineman Cameron Heyward (groin) and cornerbacks Joey Porter Jr. (calf) and Levi Wallace (foot) were limited. Heyward is also on IR.
