Pitt’s Qadree Ollison celebrates his touchdown against Va. Tech in the first half Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at Heinz Field.

Running back Qadree Ollison is returning to the site of his college success.

Ollison, who had two 1,000-yard rushing seasons at Pitt, was one of three players signed Saturday to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad.

The Steelers also signed fullback Zander Horvath, formerly of the Los Angles Chargers, and converted inside linebacker Tariq Carpenter, who was let go by the Green Bay Packers.

Ollison rushed for 1,121 yards in 2015 and 1,213 yards as a senior in 2018. He was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round of the 2019 draft and was used as a backup, short-yardage running back. Ollison appeared in three games last season with the Dallas Cowboys and was with the Jacksonville Jaguars this summer before being cut last week.

Horvath and Carpenter were seventh-round picks by the Chargers and Packers, respectively, in the 2022 draft.

Horvath, who played at Purdue, follows in the footsteps of former Chargers fullback Derek Watt, who spent three seasons with the Steelers but was not re-signed this year. Ironically, Horvath was let go by the Chargers after they claimed linebacker Tanner Muse, who was cut by the Steelers, on waivers.

Carpenter, who attended Georgia Tech, was drafted as a safety but converted to inside linebacker by the Packers. He appeared in 14 games last year, primarily playing special teams. Carpenter initially made the Packers’ 53-man roster but was cut when Green Bay claimed two players off waivers.

The moves round out the Steelers’ practice squad at 16 players. They previously added cornerback Luq Barcoo, running back Greg Bell, defensive back Anthony Brown, offensive lineman Kellen Diesch, defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko, wide receiver Simi Fehoko, guard Joey Fisher, wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick, defensive lineman Jonathan Marshall, linebacker David Perales, defensive back Josiah Scott, safety Trenton Thompson and tight end Rodney Williams.
