Steelers, Mike Tomlin fined for not wearing masks during last week’s game
The case could be made that last week’s victory was one of the biggest during the regular season in recent years for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It ended up costing the team — and its coach.
ESPN first reported Friday that the NFL levied $350,000 fines for not wearing masks during this past Sunday’s 28-24 win at the Baltimore Ravens. The team was docked $250,000 and coach Mike Tomlin was fined $100,000.
The fines for the team at large and head coach in particular are consistent with others the league has levied this season when coaches have been spotted on the sidelines without a face covering. Tomlin has typically worn a Steelers-logo neck gaiter, but he was photographed with it pulled down around his neck during the big AFC North win at M&T Bank Stadium.

Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey tested positive for the novel coronavirus from a test that was administered before the game. His results, though, were not known until the following day. No Steelers have tested positive this week or been placed on the covid-19 reserve list, which can be used for those who came in close contact with an individual that tested positive.
While several other teams have had to postpone games or field a team without certain players, the Steelers have not had a positive test nor placed anyone on the covid-19 list since the opening of training camp. They had their Week 4 game at the Tennessee Titans postponed after an outbreak of positive tests within that organization.
