Steelers’ Minkah Fitzpatrick, Ben Roethlisberger will play Monday despite missed practice time
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and All Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will play in Monday night’s game for the Pittsburgh Steelers, coach Mike Tomlin said, despite each missing practice time this week.
Roethlisberger was listed as limited on the league-mandated injury report for practices on both Thursday and Friday. Fitzpatrick, Tomlin confirmed, did not practice Saturday because of what is listed on the league-mandated injury report as a foot ailment.
“I just gave him a day off,” Tomlin said soon after Saturday’s practice at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

Roethlisberger on Friday had an added designation of a shoulder injury, added to pectoral and hip injuries that have plagued him to some degree throughout the season. That led some to question whether the 39-year-old’s status to play in Monday’s game against the Chicago Bears might be in jeopardy.
After Roethlisberger practiced fully Saturday, Tomlin left no ambiguity about it.
“Ben’s playing,” he said. “It’s just things to manage. He’s been doing this a long time, and I have been doing it a long time with him. We generally do a good job of communicating and managing such things. You should anticipate him playing.”
