Highsmith was named a third-team selection to the AP All-American list, the first Charlotte player to achieve such distinction. … Two-time first-team all-conference player in C-USA. … Holds school record for sacks in a game (4.5), season (14) and career (20). He also set school marks for tackles for loss in a game (5) and season (21.5). … Began career at Charlotte as a walk-on in 2015. Earned a scholarship during the summer before the 2017 season. … His only interest from colleges coming out of high school were from Davidson and Furman.
