Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields warms up before the Oct. 13 game at the Las Vegas Raiders. Fields was demoted the following week in favor of Russell Wilson, and on Sunday the Steelers downgraded him to questionable to play in the next game Monday against the New York Giants.

The Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday downgraded quarterback Justin Fields to questionable to play in Monday night’s home game against the New York Giants. Fields, the team announced, was added to the injury report because of a hamstring injury.

Fields started the Steelers’ first six games of the season but was replaced by Russell Wilson for last week’s win against the New York Jets. Fields was not on the injury report at any point over the past week.

The Steelers’ No. 3 quarterback is Kyle Allen, a seven-year NFL veteran who has 19 career starts. He signed with the Steelers this spring and served as the backup to Fields for the first six weeks of the season. He played two snaps during the Oct. 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys when Fields was getting examined for a concussion.

The gameday lineup is due 90 minutes before Monday’s 8:15 p.m. kickoff.

Another modification to the Steelers injury report announced Sunday was a downgrade in the status of kick returner/running back Cordarrelle Patterson, who went from “doubtful” to “out.” Patterson will miss a fourth consecutive game because of an ankle injury.
