Steelers open as 22-1 odds to win Super Bowl next season; Patriots favored again
With the Super Bowl fresh in the history books, the New England Patriots have been installed as 6-1 favorites to win a seventh Lombardi Trophy after the 2019 season, according to the gambling site BetOnline.ag.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, coming off a 9-6-1 season that did not include a playoff berth, open at 22-1 odds, which ranks No. 11 among NFL teams and fifth in the AFC.
The Patriots edged the Kansas City Chiefs (7-1 odds), Los Angeles Rams (8-1) and New Orleans Saints (9-1) for the top spot. The Patriots won their sixth championship Sunday with a 13-3 victory against the Rams in Super Bowl LIII.
“With (Tom) Brady saying after the game he is not done yet, we have set the Patriots at 6/1 to win again next year,” said BetOnline sports book brand manager Dave Mason. “Once the whistle was blown, we have already seen an influx of Pats money for Super Bowl LIV.”
In addition to the Patriots and Chiefs, the Indianapolis Colts (14-1) and Los Angeles Chargers (20-1) open with better odds than the Steelers in the AFC. The Cleveland Browns immediately follow the Steelers at 25-1 odds. The Baltimore Ravens are at 33-1 odds, and the Cincinnati Bengals face 80-1 odds.
The biggest longshots are the the quartet of the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets and Oakland Raiders at 100-1.
