Steelers’ Ramon Foster out vs. Colts; James Conner doubtful
After not having running back Jaylen Samuels available for the past two games, the Pittsburgh Steelers will likely rely heavily on him Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Running back James Conner went through the entire week without practicing and was listed as doubtful on the Steelers’ injury report, a strong indication he will not play against the Colts. Rookie running back Benny Snell was officially ruled out of that game after he reportedly underwent knee surgery earlier this week.
Samuels will return to action after his recovery from a knee scope early last month. He will be backed up by Trey Edmunds. The Steelers also could choose to promote to the active roster one of two running backs on their practice squad, Tony Brooks-James or former Pitt star Darrin Hall, by the 4 p.m. Saturday deadline to do so.
“I know (Conner) is trying to get better and get back as quick as he possibly can,” Samuels said. “If he doesn’t go, then I’ll have to be the man.”
"I’ve been pushing myself hard to get back to the team. I’m ready to go this week," Jaylen Samuels said. #Steelers https://t.co/LyCQMAYXQQ

Also ruled out of Sunday’s game was veteran guard Ramon Foster, who spent the week in concussion protocol. B.J. Finney will start at left guard in his place.
A late add to the weekly injury report was fullback Roosevelt Nix, who was limited Friday because of an apparent aggravation of a knee injury that required surgery in September and caused him to miss five games. Nix was listed as questionable to play Sunday.
Cleared to play were center Maurkice Pouncey (calf), rookie special-teamer Ulysees Gilbert (back) and defensive tackle Dan McCullers (ankle), each of whom missed practice time earlier in the week.
