Steelers’ Ryan Shazier among NFL players in charity 'Call of Duty' tournament
Injured Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier will join Hall of Famer Terrell Owens and six active NFL players in a video game tournament that will benefit charities related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Shazier and the other NFL players will face professional gamers in “Call of Duty Warzone” matches that will be streamed via Twitch and will raise $25,000. The May 13 festivities will feature the pro football athletes and members of the Florida Mutineers of the Misfits Gaming Group (MGG).
Active NFL players scheduled to take part include Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson, New York Giants cornerback James Bradberry, Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Deejay Dallas and three Cleveland Browns players: linebacker Mack Wilson, safety Sheldrick Redwine and recent top-10 draft pick, tackle Jedrick Wills.
Good luck in the Gulag. 12 teams of streamers and NFL stars are set to compete in the $25,000 "Wrecked Royale" Presented by @SoFi.

“As the world fights against the impact of the coronavirus, it’s important to do what we can to give back,” Misfits Gaming Group CEO and co-founder Ben Spoont said in a statement. “It’s always incredible to see pro players go head to head with professional athletes, and after the fun we had at our Miami event in February with the Mutineers and NFL players, we were excited to bring the esports and sports worlds together again for an entertaining showdown that’s helping a fantastic cause.”
Shazier, 27, has not played since suffering a neck injury during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in December 2017. He remains with the organization in a scouting and coaching/mentoring capacity and has not ruled out a comeback.
Last month, ESPN streamed a game of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” played by Shazier and former Ohio State star quarterback Braxton Miller.
