Dipping into the ranks of players released by the Alliance of American Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed center J.C. Hassenauer and defensive back Jack Tocho to one-year contracts Friday.
Both players were members of the Birmingham Iron before the league folded earlier this week.
Hassenauer played guard and center at Alabama. He was on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad for the start of the 2018 season but was released in October.
Tocho attended N.C. State and was a seventh-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2017 draft. Tocho spent most of that season on the Vikings practice squad, and he was on the Vikings and Washington Redskins practice squads last year.
The Steelers had an affiliation with Birmingham prior to the collapse of the AAF.
