Steelers sign 4 draft picks, including 3rd-round tight end Darnell Washington
With the team’s rookies in town for minicamp, the Pittsburgh Steelers are using the time to get some of their draft picks under contract.
On Friday, the Steelers announced the signing of four players to four-year rookie contracts: Darnell Washing (third round), Nick Herbig (fourth), Cory Trice (seventh) and Spencer Anderson (seventh)
Washington, a tight end from Georgia, has a slotted contract worth a projected $5.35 million, according to overthecap.com and a signing bonus worth about $894,000.
Herbig, an outside linebacker from Wisconsin, will received a $672,924 signing bonus as part of his four-year, $4.512 million package.
Trice, a cornerback from Purdue, has a deal valued at $3.92 million and includes an $84,436 signing bonus. Anderson, an offensive lineman from Maryland, has a contract slotted at $3.917 million, which includes a $77,784 signing bonus.
All draft picks will receive a $750,000 base salary this year if they make the 53-man roster.
The Steelers still are trying to sign the three highest-drafted members of the 2023 class: first-round tackle Broderick Jones, second-round cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and second-round defensive tackle Keeanu Benton.
Six undrafted free agents signed contracts with the Steelers on Friday: quarterback Tanner Morgan, kicker B.T. Potter, wide receiver Jordan Byrd, fullback Monte Pottebaum, linebacker David Perales and defensive end James Nyamwaya.
