A day after being released by the Atlanta Falcons, outside linebacker Jacob Tuioti-Mariner was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to their practice squad.
Tuioti-Mariner is an intriguing depth addition, considering that he played in six games for the Falcons this season and contributed two sacks while playing 18% of Atlanta’s defensive snaps.
The Steelers added outside linebacker Taco Charlton to the 53-man roster last week after trading No. 3 outside linebacker Melvin Ingram to the Kansas City Chiefs. Derrek Tuszka is the other outside linebacker on the active roster.
Tuioti-Mariner, 25, is a converted defensive lineman who appeared in 30 games with the Falcons since making his NFL debut in 2019. He spent his first two seasons on the defensive line before he shed weight and was moved to outside linebacker.
He takes the practice squad spot of kicker Josh Lambo, who was cut Tuesday, a week after being signed as insurance because of Chris Boswell’s concussion.
