Steelers sign former South Carolina tight end Kyle Markway
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed former South Carolina tight end Kyle Markway on Saturday. Markway had been signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent but was released by the Giants last week.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Markway started all 12 games for South Carolina last season, totaling 31 receptions for 349 yards and two touchdowns. He missed all but two games of the 2016-17 seasons because of foot and rib injuries.
According to several published scouting profiles of Markway, he is considered an excellent blocker.
Markway takes the roster spot of tight end Dax Raymond, who was waived/injured. The Steelers signed Raymond last month.
