The Pittsburgh Steelers added another running back to their camp mix, signing former Oregon runner Tony Brooks-James on Tuesday.

Brooks-James had bounced around the NFL since going undrafted in 2019, and three of his four career regular-season appearances were with the Steelers. Brooks-James had eight rushes for 7 yards and returned two kickoffs for the Steelers in November 2019.

Brooks-James takes the roster spot of former Penn State safety Jarvis Miller, who was in camp as a linebacker after exhausting his college eligibility as a graduate transfer at UMass.

The Steelers could have signed Brooks-James to help fill out the playing roster for Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game against the Dallas Cowboys in Canton, Ohio. Benny Snell was absent from practice Monday for undisclosed reasons, and Anthony McFarland also appeared to be nursing an injury. The Steelers also might choose to limit the touches of first-round pick Najee Harris.
