Skylar Thompson, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ No. 3 quarterback who is on injured reserve, reportedly was jumped and robbed Friday night during the team’s trip to Dublin.

Although he is on injured reserve, Thompson accompanied the team overseas for its game Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings at Croke Park.

Thompson is with the team and sustained minor injuries, NFL Network and ESPN reported.

“We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson on Friday night in Dublin,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said in a statement. “We will have no further comment at this time as we are working with NFL security to gather more information regarding the incident.”

The NFLPA also released a statement about the incident during the second half of the game:

“We are aware of the incident involving Skylar Thompson in Ireland and are relieved to know he is OK. The NFLPA is actively gathering more information and working to understand the full circumstances surrounding what took place. As always, our priority is the health and safety of our player members — especially as we continue to work on player protections and well-being while playing international games — and we will continue to support Skylar in any way he needs.”

According to The Associated Press, Irish police say no formal complaint has been filed and that they haven’t established if there was a robbery.

“No formal complaint has been made by any person at this time,” the national police, called An Garda Síochána, said in a statement Monday.

“Following preliminary enquiries, An Garda Síochána has no further information to substantiate, or not, any report this incident involved a robbery,” it added.

The Irish Independent newspaper reported that “a number of males were involved in an assault on Thompson near the Temple Bar area” and that the player’s phone was stolen.

Police didn’t comment on reports of an assault.

Police said they became involved early Saturday when officers on patrol on Dame Street “encountered a male who required medical assistance.”

“The male in his 20s was treated and assessed at the scene by emergency services personnel,” the police statement added.

Thompson’s Instagram account has been switched to private.

Thompson sustained a hamstring injury in practice in days leading up to the season opener against the New York Jets. He served as the No. 3 quarterback for that game but has spent the past three, including Sunday’s game in Ireland, on injured reserve.

Thompson took advantage of an injury to rookie sixth-round pick Will Howard and made the roster with a strong performance in the preseason.
