Steelers swap WRs on, off practice squad, release OLB Ade Ogundeji from active roster
Two days after he was signed to the active roster and less than 24 hours after his debut for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ade Ogundeji was released by the team Monday.
A veteran outside linebacker, Ogundeji played 16 snaps as the top reserve at his position during the Steelers’ 32-13 victory at the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The 26-year-old was needed because three of their top four who had played outside linebacker for them this season were injured.
A veteran of 32 career NFL games and 27 starts for the 2021-22 Atlanta Falcons, Ogundeji was signed to the Steelers’ practice squad earlier this fall.
Also Monday, the Steelers swapped wide receivers on and off their practice squad. Signed was Lance McCutcheon, a 6-foot-3, 201-pound former Los Angeles Rams receiver who hasn’t appeared in an NFL regular-season game since 2022. McCutcheon, who has no career catches, most recently was part of the New York Jets’ initial practice squad constructed at the end of their preseason.
The Steelers cut Jaray Jenkins from their practice squad. A former LSU receiver, Jenkins spent last year’s camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars and had been with the Steelers since minicamp in June.
