Steelers' museum at Heinz Field to include Hall of Honor, franchise history
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Hall of Honor soon will include a physical museum that fans can visit inside Heinz Field to learn more about the history of the franchise and its best players.
The museum is scheduled to open during the 2022 season, the Steelers announced Wednesday. It will be located near Gate B above the team’s pro shop. Once it opens, the museum will be accessible on a year-round basis.
“This will provide our fans the opportunity to not only learn more about the Hall of Honor inductees, but also about the history of the team with many great videos, pictures and displays that highlight great moments and players in Steelers history,” team president Art Rooney II said in a statement.
The Hall of Honor was established in 2017 as a way to celebrate former players, coaches and front office personnel who were instrumental in the franchise’s success. The Steelers have inducted 45 members into the Hall of Honor with another class coming in 2022.
Hall of Honor recipients currently are celebrated with a display in the Great Hall located inside Heinz Field.
