Steelers vs. Browns: What they're saying in Cleveland after loss
Sure, Pittsburgh Steelers fans are dumbfounded by coach Mike Tomlin’s fake field goal attempt that landed kicker Chris Boswell in concussion protocol.
But the Steelers won and the Cleveland Browns are reeling.
And Cleveland media is piling on the Browns as well.
Here are some snippets. Enjoy.
“They have much to fix. Time is dwindling. Injuries are mounting,” wrote Marla Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal. “Opponents are doing everything they can — legally and illegally — to contain star defensive end Myles Garrett and there has been no consistent pass-rushing threat on the other side to change that strategy.”
The loss puts the Browns in last place in the AFC North.
“En route to their disappointing 4-4 record and last-place standing in the AFC North, they’ve scored 14, 14, 17 and 10 points,” wrote Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
She took an extra shot at wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
“Beckham was mostly persona non grata in this game and should be asked to be traded by Tuesday’s deadline. It won’t be easy to find a trade partner, but it would at least be worth a try.”

ESPN’s Jake Trotter was also harsh.
“The passing game has fallen off a cliff. The defense can’t get key stops. Mental mistakes are abundant. And the injuries continue to mount,” he wrote. ”At 4-4, the Browns have little margin for error to still make the playoffs — and they have multiple issues they’ll have to resolve to get there.”

The road doesn’t get any easier for the Browns as they face the Cincinnati Bengals next week.
“All this, by the way, is what brought Pittsburgh real satisfaction. They know the Browns well. They knew this fight would be waged in an old-school way,” Albert Breer wrote for SI.com.
