Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Chase Claypool makes a catch during a game against the Denver Broncos last month at Heinz Field. Claypool will miss a game for the second time this season when he sits out Sunday’s meeting with the Detroit Lions because of a toe injury.

The attrition continues on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receivers depth chart. Chase Claypool will not play in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions after sitting out the entire week’s worth of practice because of a toe injury.

Claypool joins JuJu Smith-Schuster, who had season-ending shoulder surgery last month, as wide receivers who are unavailable from what began the season as one of the deepest positions on the team. The depth chart now consists of Diontae Johnson, James Washington, Ray-Ray McCloud and Cody White. Veteran Anthony Miller is a candidate to earn a call-up from the practice squad.

Claypool missed a game earlier this season, not playing at Green Bay because of a hamstring injury.

Claypool, though, was the only bad news on a Friday injury report that listed all other players as full practice participants. That includes tight end Eric Ebron (hamstring), defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs (hip), linebacker Robert Spillane (ankle), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (pectoral/shoulder), defensive lineman Cameron Heyward (ankle), running back Najee Harris (foot) and center Kendrick Green (hamstring).

All will play Sunday, including Ebron, who missed the past two games. Ebron’s presence combined with the continued emergence of fellow tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Zach Gentry could lead to more three-tight end sets on offense to help compensate for the absence of Claypool.
