Acrisure ranks 3rd-worst stadium in NFL for game-day traffic

Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, ranked the third-worst stadium for game-day traffic in the NFL, according to a new Pickswise study.

Each NFL stadium was scored out of 100 in the rankings, factoring in congestion levels, rush hour travel time and pollution levels around the stadiums. Acrisure received a score of 34.3 out of 100.

The analysis looked at congestion levels at 4 p.m. on Sunday, measured how long it takes to travel 10km at evening rush hour.

Congestion around Acrisure Stadium increases by 26% on game day, which is just above the NFL average of 25.3%, Pickswise said. Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs, is the easiest stadium to travel to — with just an 8% increase in congestion on game day.

The time it takes to travel 10km at evening rush hour in Pittsburgh is the 12th-slowest across all NFL stadiums, at 21 minutes and 16 seconds.

The top 10 worst stadiums to travel to in the NFL, according to Pickswise, are:

• 3. Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers
• 4. Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks
• 5. SoFi Stadium, home of the LA Chargers/Rams
• 6. Caesars Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints
• 7. Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers
• 8. Northwest Stadium, home of the Washington Commanders
• 9. Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
• 10. Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons

“Steelers fans are known for their dedication, often braving tough conditions to cheer on their team, but this study shows that the journey to Acrisure Stadium can be just as testing as the game itself,” said Andrew Wilsher, managing editor at Pickswise. “With congestion spiking above the NFL average and some of the league’s highest pollution levels, it’s clear that getting to the stadium on gameday isn’t always smooth sailing for the Pittsburgh faithful.”
