The hoops team was coming off a week that featured wins over Wright State and Youngstown State. They next play Thursday at Cleveland State.
Now, the school’s hockey teams — who are also both coming off perfect weekends — can boast similar honors.
Dominic Elliott was named Atlantic Hockey America Defenseman of the Week for the second time this season. He scored the only goal in a 1-0 series opener against Canisius on Friday.
He also scored on a slapshot from distance during a 6-4 victory over the Golden Griffins on Saturday night.

Elliott blocked 11 shots during the two games as well, and was a key member of the penalty kill. That unit successfully defended against all four Canisius power-play opportunities over the series.
On the women’s side, the Colonials topped Delaware 3-2 and 6-0 on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Jessica MacKinnon was named Atlantic Hockey America Forward of the Week for the third time this season.

Against the Blue Hens, she scored a goal and added an assist Friday, before posting a career-high four assists in Saturday’s victory.
This weekend, the women host Lindenwood for two games to wrap up their regular season. RMU has 27 conference points in Atlantic Hockey America. That’s three points behind the Lions for fifth place.
The men are at Niagara on Friday night before welcoming the Purple Eagles for the back end of a home-and-home at 7 p.m. Saturday. With points in eight of their last nine games, the Colonials have jumped up to a fourth-place tie in AHA with Sacred Heart at 33 points apiece. Niagara is ninth with 21.
Coach Derek Schooley’s club swept two games from the Purple Eagles to open conference play earlier this season by scores of 4-2 at home and 4-3 on the road.
