Penn State made its big (expected) splash Sunday, gaining the commitment of former Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht via the transfer portal.
But a second win followed in short order, one that fans might not have been expecting quite as much.
Fellow former Iowa State quarterback Alex Manske is following Becht and coach Matt Campbell to the Nittany Lions, he announced on social media.
He will be a redshirt freshman in 2026.
Manske is the sixth transfer commitment for Penn State, all hailing from Iowa State. He joined tight end Benjamin Brahmer, offensive lineman Will Tompkins, tight end Gabe Burkle, safety Marcus Neal and Becht.
Manske rated as the No. 476 player in the transfer portal and the No. 40 quarterback, per 247Sports.
As a high school prospect out of Algona, Iowa, Manske was a four-star and the No. 25 player at his position. He was the sixth-highest-rated recruit in Iowa State history.
The primary backup to Becht last season, Manske preserved his redshirt by appearing in just three games. He completed 4 of 5 passing attempts for 28 yards. He also tacked on seven rushes for 33 yards.
Manske was a three-time all-state selection in high school. He stands 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds.
In addition to Becht and Manske, Penn State signed four-star Peyton Falzone and has three-star Kase Evans committed in the 2026 class. The QB room appears set for the 2026 season and the foreseeable future.
