Shown here during a training-camp workout earlier this month, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson sat out Friday’s practice at Heinz Field because of an undisclosed injury that coach Mike Tomlin referred to as “minor.”

Wide receiver Diontae Johnson and safety Terrell Edmunds were starters who sat out Friday’s Pittsburgh Steelers practice because of injury, coach Mike Tomlin confirmed during a Zoom call after the session at Heinz Field.

Tomlin did not disclose the nature of their injuries but described them as “very minor ailments.”

“They could be characterized as day to day,” Tomlin said. “Hopefully those guys get back to us really soon.”

Two veterans who have been limited this week returned to roles that were closer to full-time.

“A couple guys who are working their way back to full participation are (defensive lineman) Chris Wormley and (wide receiver) James Washington,” Tomlin said. “It was good to have those guys back out there.”
