• The Pirates had their game in Detroit rained out June 18 and Milwaukee could relate, as that same evening, the Brewers’ contest at Wrigley Field vs. the Cubs was canceled due to inclement weather. Brewers pitcher Quinn Priester, who spent parts of his first two big-league campaigns with Pittsburgh and was a first-round (No. 18 overall) pick by the Pirates in 2019, has enjoyed a solid debut with Milwaukee. Traded by Boston to the Brewers in April, Priester is 5-2 with a 3.46 ERA in 13 games (nine starts), with 46 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings. Milwaukee center fielder Jackson Chourio ranks sixth in baseball with 20 doubles.
vs. Mets
6:40 p.m. Friday (SN PIT)
4:05 p.m. Saturday (SN PIT)
1:35 p.m. Sunday (SN PIT)
• Mets reliever Max Kranick, 27, also began his career with Pittsburgh as a starter in 2021 after being selected in the 11th round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He recently was placed on the injured list with an elbow strain. Kranick, who underwent Tommy John surgery in the Pirates’ system in 2022 before being designated for assignment in early 2024, had found success as a reliever in New York this year, going 3-2 with a 3.65 ERA in 24 appearances. The Mets absorbed another blow to their pitching staff last week, when starter Tylor Megill (5-5, 3.95 ERA) landed on the injured list with an elbow sprain.
