Here’s a look at next week’s Pittsburgh Pirates schedule:

vs. Tigers

• After wrapping their first post-All-Star break action over the weekend vs. the White Sox, the Pirates continue a nine-game homestand starting Monday with three contests against the Tigers. Paul Skenes’ AL adversary from the All-Star Game, Tarik Skubal, begins the second half of the season with a 10-3 record and 2.33 ERA. Casey Mize has also been a key rotation member for Detroit, going 9-3 with a 3.15 ERA.

• Arizona third baseman Eugenio Saurez enters the second half of the season as his club’s leader in homers (31) and RBIs (78) while slashing .250/.320/.569. Right fielder Corbin Carroll is batting .245 with 21 homers and 47 RBIs. On the mound, it’s been a down year for Zac Gallen, who’s gone 7-10 with a 5.40 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP over 20 starts. In 2022 and 2023, Gallen produced back-to-back campaigns in which he finished in the top five for the NL Cy Young.
