Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin during the first half of an NFL football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Steelers in Santa Clara, Calif., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019.

It’s my weekly Mike Tomlin press conference wrap-up podcast with fellow TribLive columnist Kevin Gorman.

We try to figure out how the Steelers have gotten so bad. As Kevin reminds us, this isn’t just a lousy 0-3 start to 2019. This is about a 2-7 stretch dating back to last year.

The biggest problem right now for the Steelers might be trying to figure out which problem is worse. You could argue it’s their inability to run. Or you could argue it’s their inability to stop the run.

In either case, you’d be right.

If they have any hope of making the season interesting, they need to win at least five of their divisional games. That effort starts Monday against the Cincinnati Bengals. We dive into some challenges the Bengals present even though they are 0-3 as well.

Believe it or not, a few exist. If Cincinnati can get running back Joe Mixon going, that’s a problem. And while the Steelers have failed to offset the loss of Antonio Brown at the wide receiver position, the Bengals seem to be getting a lot more out of their group of receivers in the absence of A.J. Green.

We discuss how that will be a challenge for the Steelers defense. Also, we analyze the addition of Minkah Fitzpatrick, the diluted draft class because of the recent trades and the mentality of Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert at this delicate stage.
