New York Jets running back Le’Veon Bell watches from the sideline near the end of the second half of an NFL football game against the New England Patriots, Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, in Foxborough, Mass.

Before the NFL’s trade deadline hit on Tuesday, rumors surfaced that teams may be trying to acquire New York Jets running back Le’Veon Bell.

Wow!

It didn’t happen. But what a move that would have been. After all, Bell leaving the Steelers to sign with New York was one of the biggest stories of the entire offseason.

It was a four-year, $52.5 million deal. And Bell was supposed to help reshape the team’s future.

No luck so far. The Jets are 1-6. Bell is only averaging 3.2 yards per carry. And he only has two total touchdowns.

The Daily News pointed to the Texans, Chiefs, Bills and Eagles as teams that may have wanted to take a swing at acquiring the former Pittsburgh All-Pro.

Nothing transpired. But the rumor mill was churning for about four or five hours leading up to the deadline.

The Cowboys were also reportedly considering a deal for safety Jamal Adams.

Those moves would’ve been nice from a Steelers point of view. Keep in mind that the Steelers have to play the Jets in Week 16.

All of these rumblings inspired Bell to take to social media and preach patience to the Jets fanbase.

Who knows? Maybe, by extension, to management as well.

You know what? That was actually pretty measured and mature. It came off as sincere by Bell.

What got into him??!!

Meanwhile in Antonio Brown’s world, the former Pro Bowl wide receiver is sitting around in NFL exile, pining to get back into the game.

He’s even trying to pander to the Patriots by posting photos of his son in his New England jersey for career day.

Aw. That’s cute. But I don’t think that’s gonna work, A.B.

Bill Belichick isn’t exactly known for being swayed by emotions, is he?

He’d need to have some first.
