Tim Benz, Mark Madden discuss Steelers, Penguins, Pitt loss, Pirates’ new president
Mark Madden makes his triumphant return to the “Madden Monday” podcast.
After a week off, “Double-M” joins me to look at the state of the Pittsburgh Steelers as they get ready for the hapless Miami Dolphins Monday night at Heinz Field. The terrible AFC is keeping the Steelers mathematically alive. But Mark is still dubious of their chances of making the playoffs without Ben Roethlisberger.
As am I.
We talk Penguins, too. Their approach to hockey has been sound of late. Their goaltending has been good. And some new players are contributing nicely. But does that mean anything seeing as how they have lost three of their last four?
We examine that question as well as looking at the return of Bryan Rust.
On the baseball front, Mark is optimistic about the hire of Travis Williams as Frank Coonelly’s replacement as team president. There’s one specific reason why. He’ll tell you what that is.
And Pitt is Pitt once more. Another momentum-stunting loss to a mediocre team. The Panthers just can’t get out of their own way.
Plus, why we don’t think Alexei Kovalev can beat Canelo Alvarez in a fight.
Oh, wait. Not that “Kovalev,” you say?
Tim Benz and Mark Madden cover lots of Pittsburgh sports news: Steelers’ 'MNF' preview, Penguins’ recent games, Pitt’s weekend loss and Pirates’ new president
