The coronavirus has stopped sports.
But it hasn’t stopped us from talking about them on “Madden Monday.”
In this week’s podcast, Mark Madden and I discuss what you can do to occupy your time without sports on television. I suggest “Brockmire.” Listen for Mark’s recommendations.
There are also good ESPN 30 for 30s to be watched. We review some of those.
At least, we still have the NFL. The league is continuing with business practices as they normally do. That means a new collective bargaining agreement in place, franchise tags to be applied, the Ravens making a trade, Tom Brady potentially being shut out of two potential destinations, a huge new contract for Ryan Tannehill.
We discuss all of these angles. And we talk about how covid-19 is impacting the league. The draft may leave Las Vegas. And the Raiders may not be able to go there this year after all.
We explain why.
Mark and I also talk about what the new CBA details mean for the Steelers roster, particularly on gameday — and the roster overall.
The futures of players such as Ramon Foster, Vance McDonald, Mark Barron and Ryan Switzer are top of mind for us.
I’ve advanced a playoff format idea for the NHL if the league is ever allowed to play again. I’ll get Mark’s opinion on whether he likes my format.
Plus, there’s a major guest announcement on Mark’s show for Monday. Find out who it is, and if Mark can survive the future of the shutdown, not knowing what will happen to his beloved Liverpool Football Club.
