Quarterbacks, quarterbacks, quarterbacks.

They drive the news cycle 24-7.

Especially when those quarterbacks are in cities such as Pittsburgh, Dallas, Chicago and New Orleans.

Yes, even in May. Yes, even during a global sports shutdown.

So on this week’s “Madden Monday” podcast, Mark Madden and I wade into those waters, particularly as it relates to the Steelers QB depth chart after Ben Roethlisberger and the national media’s coverage of him.

Beyond that, Mark brings up a name that could be viewed as a potential successor for Roethlisberger, or, at least, his eventual backup. That’s Chicago’s Mitch Trubisky. I counter with Dak Prescott. Weigh in with your opinion.

Speaking of Prescott, we also talk about Andy Dalton signing in Dallas as his backup and Jameis Winston going to New Orleans.

What happens if college football goes to a spring schedule? It could be a mess for the sport, as well as the NFL. We think that’s a bad plan. We explain.

The NFL is plowing ahead with scheduling. Some think that’s a poor idea. We think it’s a exactly what should be done. We’re right. And we’ll tell you why.

On the hockey front, are the Penguins the kind of team that will benefit compared to other clubs by a cold restart of the NHL season? Or will they be in a more difficult position given the skill and precision with which they normally play? Mark and I have some theories there.

Some of the false equivalencies in the covid-19 presentation of “facts” have us both on edge. We sound off about those, too.

Also we talk about the soccer restarts for leagues in Europe, Gene Simmons saving the world, and why Mark will never go back to Australia, even if Liverpool gets crowned as the English Premier League champions.
