The Pittsburgh Steelers missed an opportunity to control their own destiny.

And now it’s not hard to see them missing the playoffs.

A 16-10 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday leaves the Steelers needing a win and some help to make the playoffs.

Tim Benz and Mark Madden says that’s not that surprising given the injuries and dismal quarterback play the team has endured this season.

Duck season is over. Mason Rudolph can’t stay healthy. Neither can James Conner. The offensive line is a shell of what it used to be. The defense hasn’t made enough splash plays lately. And JuJu Smith-Schuster is “nothing if he’s not a football player,” Madden says, and he says it’s time for Smith-Schuster to focus on football.

The guys analyze where the Steelers stand heading into the final week of the regular season and the deficiencies they have at running back and wide receiver, even without the injuries.

They also dive into the Penguins’ goalie situation, made interesting by Tristan Jarry’s emergence as a top goalie in the NHL.
