Mondays are hard enough as it is.

They are even harder when you live in a city where your football team stinks. And make no mistake, the Pittsburgh Steelers stink right now.

They have fallen to 0-3 after a 24-20 loss in San Francisco Sunday. Mark Madden and I analyze everything that went wrong in that contest in this week’s “Madden Monday” podcast.

There was a lot on the table.

The biggest issue is that the team couldn’t convert more than six points out of five turnovers by the 49ers.

The Steelers are dreadful on third downs. The defense caved in big moments in the second half.

Mason Rudolph ain’t Ben Roethlisberger. James Conner ain’t Le’Veon Bell and JuJu Smith Schuster ain’t Antonio Brown. All those unpleasant truths have become obvious now, haven’t they?

Forget the “rewind the clock to 2004” theory. That was a pipe dream. Plus, after getting the Cincinnati Bengals next Monday, the Steelers need to play the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Good luck with that.

Aside from the Steelers’ mess, Mark and I discuss the meltdown of Antonio Brown, the slow start for Le’Veon Bell, the crazy win for Pitt, and a look at the Penguins in training camp.
