Tim Benz

This week’s “Madden Monday” ain’t gonna be pretty.

How could it be?

You saw the Steelers game, right? There’s so much to tear apart .

Mark Madden and Tim Benz analyze what went wrong against the Seahawks. And there was a lot.

We start with Ben Roethlisberger’s elbow injury. Mason Rudolph wasn’t bad in his NFL debut but if Roethlisberger is out long term, the Steelers are cooked.

Aside from the quarterback situation, the defense was leaky against the run on its left side. We try to figure out why.

Terrell Edmunds had a rough day. So did Sean Davis. But nothing compares to Donte Moncrief. He had another costly drop that turned into an interception. We talk about his place among awful Steelers free agent acquisitions.

As bad as the Steelers were, their performance pales in comparison to Pat Narduzzi’s decision to kick a field goal while trailing by seven points late in the Penn State game. The Pitt coach takes the heat he deserves in this podcast.

Then there are two more deflating storylines — Antonio Brown’s early success with the Patriots and the epic failure of the Pirates pitching staff in Chicago.

Aside from that, it was a great sports weekend in Pittsburgh.

Hockey season can’t get here soon enough.
