Tony Grenek is stepping down as the head women’s basketball coach at Point Park after 11 seasons.

Grenek had a record of 206-101. The wins are the most in program history.

He put together four 20-win seasons and led the Pioneers to eight conference tournament appearances.

This season, the Pioneers finished 14-11 and saw the brilliant career of grad guard Michelle Burns, a Hempfield graduate, come to a close.

Burns set numerous program records.

“I think it’s time for a new voice to be heard, and I think it’s time for me to take on another challenge as my own two children are growing older and being involved in activities,” Grenek said in a news release. “It’s been a great run here. Not too many coaches get to leave on their own terms and on positive terms.”

Point Park made the NAIA national tournament three straight years, from 2011-14. Grenek guided the team to conference titles in each of those seasons.

Grenek, a former associate head coach at Seton Hill under Ferne Labati, will stay on campus as a student success coordinator.

“Fortunately, I will get continue to work at Point Park University, just in a different department,” he said. “And I will be able to help students just in a different way outside of the basketball coaching element
