Trying to figure out how to make Penguins ‘connections’ work again
Brian Metzer is the Penguins Radio Network host.
He does that job so you don’t have to.
I know Metz loves the work. But with the way the Penguins are going right now, would you want that gig?
I mean, it’s not doing play-by-play for the Pirates. But it ain’t easy!
Think about it. Metzer’s duty of late has been to talk about everything that’s gone wrong with the Pens.
That’s some heavy lifting.
After all, Mike Sullivan’s team has lost eight of its last 10 games. And the head coach has described the club as being “disconnected.”
I think that’s a highbrow way of saying “rotten.” I looked up the word “disconnected” in the dictionary. There’s a GIF of three Penguins forwards screwing up an odd-man rush by making an overly fancy, high-risk pass instead of shooting the puck on goal.
Weird. I didn’t know Webster’s updated itself so diligently.
Metz has a difficult task at hand. What are the Pens’ problems?
It’s the power play. The goaltending. The defense. Star forwards like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are giving away the puck (they combined for seven giveaways during Sunday’s loss) constantly.
And poor Metz has to be sick to death of talking about it all.
So I made him do it for another 17 minutes in this podcast.
I’m a good friend.
Although I did cheer him up with some tremendous 1980s hair band concert news that you will applaud as well.
