I’m getting the impression that Steelers fans have grown tired of ripping on an overpaid, underperforming defense.
They’ve even grown fatigued of blasting the head coach, who hasn’t won a playoff game since 2016.
So it’s time to hold a new villain accountable: the Pittsburgh sports media!
Because if Mike Tomlin is asked “better” questions at his press conference every week, he’ll be inspired and motivated to coach harder and make the necessary changes to force Darius Slay, Jalen Ramsey and Joey Porter into being better coverage men in time for them to face the Cincinnati Bengals again next month.
Thank goodness “U mad, bro” exists, or else how would Tomlin know what to do? And how else would I know what to ask him?
Here is this week’s edition.
As Tomlin’s defense was getting sliced apart by Joe Flacco in Cincinnati last week, I shared an opinion about how much he was fretting over the trade that sent Flacco from Cleveland to the Bengals a few weeks ago. Someone calling themselves “GPlayerSports” felt the need to reply.
A take from this guy that a finally agree on https://t.co/Ee6TFu9eoC— G . Player (@GPlayerSports) October 17, 2025
Well … G … I’ve basically been saying the same thing for eight years. So if you are only starting to agree now, that’s on you.
But welcome to the party anyway.
Here’s an email from Robert.
“Tim, usually, much blame for a loss goes onto the players. Rightfully so. Especially to a team with a backup QB. However very little gets put on assistant coaches. Especially in Tomlin’s tenure.”
Um, Robert … I think Matt Canada might disagree.

Following last Thursday’s loss in Cincinnati, I sent out a social media post taking a jab at Tomlin after he claimed media members were “annoying” him with some of the questions they asked at his press conference that previous Monday.
Was Tomlin "annoyed" by any questions tonight? I was certainly annoyed watching his defense.— Tim Benz (@TimBenzPGH) October 17, 2025
This is how “JC” responded.
I get it, for such a small man, you always talk such a big talk... but I guess the mistake is on me for ever think you would GROW out of the same old shtick...Just clown journalism out of you for so so long.
This city's rich sports history deserves better...

Allow me to ask you a question, JC.
Does the city deserve better than eight straight years without a playoff win? Or, when I point that out, is that just “shtick” too?
I also took a swipe at the on-field officials for failing to make an immediate call on the interception by D.J. Turner. Keith didn’t appreciate that.
“The defense absolutely (stunk) … quit crying.”
I’m pretty sure I made my thoughts on the defense known throughout the game and in the aftermath, Keith.
So simmer down, tough guy.
Andrew replied to Friday’s “First Call.” It included a Ja’Marr Chase quote that suggested the Steelers’ defense was extremely predictable, and that the Bengals knew what was coming.
The great reporters in Pittsburgh will ask Mike about this his answer will be the same as always - it's the nfl everyone's familiar with what they are doing. BUT they wont follow up with the why do most teams disguise their coverages ?— Andy (@AndrewManley1) October 17, 2025
It’s so funny that this week the media is at fault for not holding Tomlin accountable, yet last Monday, the media was taking heat from Steelers fanboys online because we were allegedly “just trying to (tick) Tomlin off,” and were being too argumentative. People were actually applauding him for that “You guys were annoying me,” routine on the way out the door.
Huh? Weird! It’s amazing what one horrific defensive performance will do for perception.
Finally, we turn to “MP.” He figured out exactly what went wrong against the Bengals.
It’s Pitts fault— MP (@Agentzero1881) October 17, 2025
Exactly MP. I’m sure Ben Roethlisberger would agree.
