Undefeated IUP men's basketball team moves up to No. 3 in latest Division II national poll
The IUP men’s basketball team, undefeated through eight games this season, moved up two spots to No. 3 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II poll released Tuesday.
The Crimson Hawks ticked up from No. 5 on the heels of a 108-41 victory Sunday over Bethany.
The ranking is the best of the season for IUP, which was No. 11 in the initial NABC poll released Oct. 29.
IUP’s gain came at the expense of former No. 1 Nova Southeastern and No. 3 West Texas A&M. Both teams suffered their first losses of the season within the past week.
Bellarmine (6-0) is the new No. 1 team in the rankings, followed by Northwest Missouri State (8-1) at No. 2.
NW Missouri State is ahead of IUP by just 14 points (379-365).
West Chester (9-0) remains the only other Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference team in the top 25 as it is No. 14 this week.
IUP returns to PSAC play at Shepherd (W.Va.) on Friday and at Shippensburg on Saturday.
