Madden and Benz Unfiltered returns this week, and the guys are catching up with the sports world.

Mark Madden and Tim Benz discuss the stalled rebooting of the MLB season and whether fans even care at this point. They also discuss the NHL’s plan for pod cities to host playoff games in its return.

From there, the guys discuss the reactions from Steelers players about the Drew Brees American flag-national anthem controversy. Madden thinks it was interesting that Maurkice Pouncey was dismissive of Alejandro Villanueva saying it was a media-created issue.

“I don’t think the media created the Drew Brees controversy. I think Drew Brees did just fine on his own,” Madden says.

Madden and Benz also discuss the new rules regarding covering games and what the media dynamic will be from a standpoint of interviewing players pre- and post-game.

The guys also talk about the futures of Steelers running back James Conner and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, go over reader comments and more.
