After the Pittsburgh Penguins were ousted from the NHL postseason by the New York Islanders last week, there is plenty of speculation of what changes could be coming to the team this offseason.
Mark Madden and Tim Benz discuss what could be coming for the Penguins on this week’s edition of “Unfiltered” on TribLive’s Facebook page. The guys also talk about the other NHL playoff series, the end of RMU hockey, former Steelers coach Bill Cowher thoughts on his best team and Mark’s concert calendar for the summer.
One change that the guys talk about is what the team could do with Jake Guentzel. Will they try to trade him? Should they?
Madden thinks the Penguins are going to keep the big three players — Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang — as well as goalie Tristan Jarry. So even if they trade Guentzel, not much really changes, according to Madden. But it might be a “statement trade.”
And if the Penguins do trade Guentzel, Benz wonders if they will try to find a player with size and skill that can play with Crosby?
Is there a way to move Jarry? Madden say at this point Jarry is unmovable. Benz thinks maybe there is a team that will make a deal.
The guys also talk about Cowher’s comments on the best Steelers team he’s coached. Surprisingly it’s not the team that won a Super Bowl with him.
Also Madden says he’s going to try to get to a Guns N’ Roses show in Las Vegas, the day after the KISS and David Lee Roth show at Burgettstown in August.
The guys also answer viewers comments and questions.
