Unfiltered: Tim Benz and Mark Madden discuss Steelers adding Joe Schobert, Dwayne Haskins’ future, more
Mark Madden and Tim Benz open up this week’s edition of “Unfiltered” on TribLIVE’s Facebook page discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers’ decision to acquire linebacker Joe Schobert from the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
Schobert comes in and already becomes a leader of the defense. He likely won’t leave the field when the Steelers go to their subpackages.
Madden and Benz also talk about how the team handles the contracts of defensive All-Pros T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Both are coming up on the end of their entry-level contracts — Watt at the end of this year, Fitzpatrick after 2022.
The guys also talk about quarterback Dwayne Haskins’ future with the Steelers. Madden thinks he should play the long game and think about legitimately competing for the No. 1 spot after Ben Roethlisberger retires.
The guys touch on the stumbling Pirates, Neil Walker’s broadcasting debut and other baseball news.
