Tim Benz and Mark Madden return for this week’s edition of “Unfiltered” on TribLive’s Facebook page to talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at Heinz Field. The Black and Gold remain unbeaten with a thorough drubbing of the Bengals and improve to 9-0 on the season.

No one thought the Steelers would be 9-0. Madden thought they’d win 10 games all season, and he wonders about the uptick. That’s not to say the Steelers are not very good, because they are, according to Madden, but he doesn’t think have the vibe of a 9-0 team or are hardly a juggernaut.

Madden and Benz discuss the Steelers running game, or lack of running game. Madden says that the Steelers can’t run the ball, but maybe it’s because they don’t set themselves up for success. The Steelers are often in the shotgun formation, which hampers the run, and the team seems to abandon the run whenever it doesn’t succeed.

Maybe the team just wants to stick with the pass. But what happens when they need to run the ball and can’t?

Looking ahead, far ahead, to a possible playoff matchup, Madden wonders if the Steelers will be able to trade quick strikes with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
