Unfiltered: Tim Benz and Mark Madden discuss Steelers loss to Chargers
Columnists Tim Benz and Mark Madden discuss the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 41-37 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night on this edition of “Unfiltered” on TribLIVE’s Facebook page.
“For a while the only thing that could stop the defenses was Matt Canada’s play-calling,” Benz says to open the show, pointing out how Canada’s calls kept his team from scoring.
The loss pushed the 5-4-1 Steelers to the bottom of the AFC and possibly out of the race for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs.
One of the issues was all the injuries to the Steelers defense — Benz and Madden had trouble identifying some of the players on the field for the Steelers.
“At the end of the day, all last night was … was a damaging loss” for the Steelers, says Madden. It’s one that the team will look back at with regret, says Madden.
Madden says the Steelers do not play well against good quarterbacks, and they often struggle against not-so-good quarterbacks, too.
The guys also discuss the outlook for the Steelers, the Penguins and Tristan Jarry’s recent play and Madden’s new podcast project with Ric Flair. They also answer viewers comments and questions.
