Unfiltered: Tim Benz and Mark Madden discuss Steelers win over Colts, look at playoff teams
Tim Benz and Mark Madden return for this week’s edition of “Unfiltered” on TribLive’s Facebook page to talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ come-from-behind win over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday at Heinz Field.
With the 28-24 victory, the Steelers won the AFC North and will be at least the third seed in the playoffs.
“We’re going on 24 hours since the game wrapped up and I still don’t know what happened,” says Madden.
“They were dead and buried at 24-7 (at halftime). Ben’s arm looked limp and lifeless, as it’s looked too often over the past month and half. But then his arm snapped back into gear. The Steelers snapped back into gear. And the next thing you know they win 28-24. And suddenly the outlook on the season and the upcoming playoffs looks a whole lot rosier.”
But Madden tempers that by saying that they are probably not a Super Bowl contender. But he thinks they could win a playoff game. Though a playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens or Cleveland Browns could be a tough matchup.
Benz and Madden discuss what this win means. Benz asks if this win is a revival or a false dawn?
Madden says that not every big comeback is a new beginning. It can also be a last gasp.
The guys also talk the Steelers defense and their own struggles. And a look at the NFL playoff field and who the Steelers might face.
The also look at the Pirates trade of Josh Bell to the Washington Nationals.
And they take some readers comments.
