Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive assistant Glenn Thomas has accepted a job as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Nebraska, the school announced Wednesday. Thomas spent one season on the Steelers’ staff.

The offseason coaching carousel has begun to spin, with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first assistant coach leaving the staff.

The University of Nebraska hired Steelers offensive assistant Glenn Thomas as its co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, the school announced via a release. Thomas, a veteran of more than two decades of coaching, spent one season with the Steelers.

Nebraska’s head coach is Matt Rhule, a former Penn State player and Carolina Panthers head coach.

“Glenn Thomas has a history of success throughout his coaching career, and I look forward to him being a part of the Nebraska football program,” Rhule said in a prepared statement. “Glenn has proven to be an elite developer of quarterbacks, and his background at both the collegiate and NFL levels is a great addition to our coaching staff.”

Most of Thomas’ coaching experience is at the college level, but he did spend seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

While Thomas has most often had a focus on coaching quarterbacks, the Steelers have had a fulltime quarterbacks coach in Mike Sullivan and a full-time assistant quarterbacks coach in David Corley.
