Vincentian Academy grad Wise wins major student-athlete award at Indiana
Vincentian Academy grad Brenna Wise, a senior at Indiana, has been named one of the top five student-athletes in NCAA Division I women’s basketball.
Wise was selected to the Senior CLASS Award first team, Indiana announced Tuesday.
A two-year team captain, Wise has started every game for the Hoosiers over the past two seasons after transferring in from Pitt following her sophomore year. As a senior, she averaged 7.9 points and a team-leading 5.9 rebounds per game. As a junior, she was an All-Big Ten second-team selection.
Wise is a double major in marketing and professional sales with a 3.89 grade-point average. She will graduate in May.
The other four members of the first team were Oregon superstar Sabrina Ionescu, Baylor’s Lauren Cox, Belmont’s Ellie Harmeyer and Oregon State’s Mikayla Pivec.
The award is voted on by a panel of coaches, media members and fans. Candidates are judged on their accomplishments in four areas – classroom, community, character and competition.
