The in-game experience at Pittsburgh Penguins games is about to get bigger.

A lot bigger.

The team shared on social media a progress video of an enormous new video board that will hang over the ice at PPG Paints Arena, much larger than the one fans have grown accustomed to over the past 13 years.

The video shows ice being melted and the old video board being lowered to the floor — and completely dismantled.

The new base structure erected around it shows how much bigger the updates will be. It’s nearly double the size of the old one.

At the end, fans get a preview with the Penguins logo scrolling across the new board.

The team in March announced improvement plans at the arena for the upcoming season. In addition to the video board, there will be upgraded LED ribbon boards, sound system, control room and content management system.

Two so-called “bunker” suites will provide dining and entertainment space, full-service bars and private restrooms at ice level. A VIP event level club will be at one end of the rink with a capacity of up to 300 people.

All of the upgrades were expected to cost over $30 million, according to the team.

The first preseason game is set for Sept. 24. The team’s season officially opens Oct. 10.
