Westmoreland County Community College had not experienced a win in men’s soccer since 2015 and was tangled in a frustrating streak.

But the Wolfpack reversed course Thursday in their season opener, snapping a 40-game winless streak with a 5-4 victory over Allegany (Md.) in overtime in Youngwood.

Freshman Ethan Turnbull, a Greensburg Salem graduate, had a hat trick, including the game-winner at 3:52 into overtime, as WCCC won for the first time since a 12-2 victory over Lorain on Sept. 26, 2015.

The Wolfpack tied Alleghany in the final game of the 2016 regular season and had not won since.

Freshmen Matt Henderson (Latrobe) and Evan Curley also scored for WCCC and first-year coach Mitchell Steele. Henderson added two assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Luke Brummett (Jeannette) made 14 saves.
