Weekend College Top 10: IUP men, women stay in 1st place
Every Monday, the Tribune-Review will highlight 10 top area college performances from the weekend:
1. Miller helps No. 7 IUP men improve to 17-1
Malik Miller scored a career-best 27 points, and the Crimson Hawks held off Clarion, 82-71, in a PSAC game Saturday.
IUP (12-1 conference) trailed three times in the first half to Clarion (4-15, 3-10) and led 40-38 at halftime.

The Crimson Hawks pulled away in the second half thanks in part to foul shooting, as they converted 29 of 36 from the line for the game.
Dave Morris finished with 12 points, five assists and a career-best six steals in the win. IUP holds a two-game lead over Pitt-Johnstown (16-4, 10-3) in the West Division.
Stevan Rodriguez had 21 points for the Golden Eagles.
2. No. 6 IUP women tie record with 16th straight win
Reserve Courtney Alexander (OLSH) tied her career best with 20 points, and the Crimson Hawks held a 42-18 rebounding advantage in an 82-50 PSAC victory over Clarion on Saturday.

IUP (18-1, 13-0) equaled its 16-game streak set in 1999-2000. The Crimson Hawks are two games ahead of Gannon (15-4, 11-2) in the West Division.
Maura D’Anna contributed 14 points and eight rebounds, and Natalie Myers (Burrell) had 13 points and seven rebounds.
3. RMU’s Gebhard breaks scoring record
Jaycee Gebhard had two goals and an assist in a 4-1 victory over Lindenwood on Saturday, moving into first place on the program’s career points record with 182.

The Colonials improved to 15-9-2 overall and 9-3-0 in College Hockey America.
4. Grove City men take over 1st place
James Wells scored 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting as the Wolverines downed Waynesburg, 80-58, in a PAC game Saturday.
The win, combined with Westminster’s victory over Chatham, allowed Grove City (10-7, 7-2) to move into first place.
Justice Rice (Monessen) added 17 points for Grove City.
Brennan Smith led Waynesburg (4-14, 4-5) with 15 points.
5. Westminster men knock off Chatham
Dylan O’Hara scored 28 points to go with a season-best eight rebounds, and the Titans beat the reigning PAC champion Cougars, 90-80, on Saturday.

Westminster (11-7, 6-3) moved a half-game ahead of Chatham (11-7, 5-3) for second place in the standings. Grove City (7-2) is in first place.
The Titans led by as many as 27 points. Daniel Ritter finished with 16 points, and Blake Payne added 10 points.
Elijah Sutton led Chatham with 20 points.
6. Point Park senior ties 3-point record
Senior Tyra James made two 3-pointers, tying April Austin’s all-time program record of 191, as the Pioneers defeated IU Southeast, 80-76, in a River States Conference game Sunday.

Freshman Taylor Kirschner (Quigley Catholic) had a season-best 23 points for Point Park, going 5 for 8 on 3-pointers. Michelle Burns (Hempfield) added 18 points and six assists for the Pioneers (13-9, 3-5).
IU Southeast dropped to 13-8, 5-4.
7. W&J men shock Saint Vincent in final second
Cameron Seemann made a jumper with 0.3 seconds left as the Presidents upended the Bearcats, 75-74, on Saturday in the PAC.

It was W&J’s first win over Saint Vincent since 2011.
The Bearcats (9-9, 4-5) led by 10 with 3 minutes, 13 seconds left. Seemann got the Presidents (10-8, 5-4) within a basket on a jumper with 46 seconds left.
Jonathan DeVito (Central Catholic) led W&J with 15 points and six assists.
David Stephen had 13 points for Saint Vincent.
8. Spaid propels Pitt-Greensburg men
Cody Spaid scored a career-best 24 points on 10-for-11 shooting, leading the Bobcats to an 84-81 triumph over Hilbert on Saturday in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
Matt Johnson chipped in 10 points for Pitt-Greensburg, making it 10 straight games with 10 or more points.
The Bobcats improved to 15-3, 11-2 and trail La Roche by a game for first place.
9. Allegheny women’s swimmers stay unbeaten
The Gators downed Fredonia, 188-48, boosting their record to 7-0 in dual meets to go with victories in all three invitationals in which they’ve competed.
Emily Schaefer (Shaler Area) won the 200 freestyle and placed second in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle.
10. No. 9 Penn State men’s hockey edges No. 19 Michigan State in OT
Connor McMenamin scored 39 seconds into overtime, lifting the Nittany Lions to a 2-1 road victory in the Big Ten on Saturday.

Peyton Jones made 42 saves for Penn State (17-8-1, 9-6-1), which snapped a four-game winless streak in conference play.
