It has been a tough year for people trying to run golf tournaments.

The West Pennsylvania Golf Association, Tri-State PGA and Pennsylvania Golf Association have been forced to change their schedules because on the coronavirus pandemic.

Because Allegheny County shut down bars and restaurants and restricted gatherings to no more than 25 people at sporting events, the West Penn Amateur was postponed and will be rescheduled, said WPGA director of competitions Mac Wolfe.

The tournament was scheduled to be today and Tuesday at Allegheny Country Club.

“We hope to have a new date later this week,” Wolfe said. “There aren’t many open dates because of other tournaments and players heading back to college. It’s be a tough year.”

Wolfe said there is interest in moving the tournament or remaining tournaments out of Allegheny County.

“We’re hoping things open back up on Friday,” Wolfe said.

The next event scheduled is the WPGA Open qualifier July 15 at Birdsfoot Golf Course.

The Pittsburgh Open, hosted by the Tri-State PGA, is scheduled for July 13 and 14 at South Hills Country Club.
