State Farm Insurance recently gave all its agents $500 to donate to a charity or an organization of their choice because of the coronavirus.

Matt Knizner, an agent in Hempfield Township, decided to donate his $500 to the West Point Little League. The donation, said West Point president Tom Rennie, will go to the scoreboard fund for the softball field.

Knizner graduated from Hempfield in the early 1980s and played quarterback for the Spartans and for the late Joe Paterno at Penn State.

Knizner has coached softball at West Point and for Bob Kalp at Hempfield.

On hand for the check presentation before a girls’ softball game July 24 were Rennie, vice-president of umpires Don Thomas, former director of softball Ray Mello and director of softball Matt Maiers.
